Ahmed's New School Books

After months of displacement, 12-year-old Ahmed finally returned to school with new books and supplies provided by our education fund.

Ahmed and his family were displaced three times in the past year. Each time, they left behind everything — including Ahmed's schoolbooks and notebooks. For months, he watched other children go to school while he stayed behind, helping his mother care for his younger siblings.

"When we lost our home, I thought I would never go back to school," Ahmed recalls. "I used to sit outside the shelter and read whatever I could find — old newspapers, torn pages."

Through our partnership with local education organizations, Ahmed received a full set of schoolbooks, notebooks, pencils, and a backpack. He was one of 847 children who received school supplies this quarter.

"Now I can study again. I want to become a doctor so I can help people in my community," Ahmed says with a quiet determination that belies his age.

Ahmed's story is just one of thousands. In Gaza alone, over 625,000 children have been affected by the conflict, many losing access to education for months or even years at a time. Your donations help us provide the tools they need to continue learning.

A Warm Meal for 200 Families

Our food distribution program provided hot meals to 200 families in Khan Younis, reaching children who hadn't had a proper meal in days.

The kitchen started at 4 AM. By 5:30, the smell of fresh bread and lentil soup filled the air. By noon, 200 families would receive hot, nutritious meals — many of them for the first time in days.

Fatima, a mother of five, walked two kilometers to reach the distribution point. Her youngest, 3-year-old Noor, clung to her hand the entire way.

"We haven't had a hot meal in four days," Fatima says quietly. "The children ask for bread, and I have nothing to give them."

When she received the food package — fresh bread, lentil soup, rice, and canned goods — Fatima's eyes filled with tears. "This is not just food. This is dignity. This is hope."

Our food distribution program operates daily in Khan Younis, reaching an average of 200 families per distribution. Each package provides enough food for a family of five for three days.

Since launching, we have distributed over 45,000 meals to families in need. But the need continues to grow. Every dollar donated provides 10 meals for children and families.

Baby Layla's First Checkup

Six-month-old Layla received her first medical checkup and vaccinations through our medical aid program, ensuring she starts life healthy.

When Layla was born, her mother Mariam knew she needed to get her to a doctor. But the nearest functioning clinic was a 45-minute walk away, and Mariam had no way to get there.

For six months, Mariam watched her daughter grow, worrying with every cough and fever. "I was terrified," she says. "I didn't know if she was developing properly. I had no way to check."

Our mobile medical unit reached Mariam's neighborhood in January. Layla was among 34 children who received checkups that day.

The doctor found that Layla was slightly underweight but otherwise healthy. She received her first round of vaccinations and Mariam was given nutritional supplements to help her gain weight.

"The doctor told me Layla is strong," Mariam says, holding her daughter close. "For the first time since she was born, I can sleep at night."

Our medical aid program has provided over 2,800 consultations and 1,200 vaccinations to children in need. Every child deserves to start life healthy.

The Family That Found Shelter

The Hassan family — two parents and four children — moved from a tent to a temporary shelter after our shelter program provided materials and support.

For three months, the Hassan family lived in a tent. Two parents, four children — ages 2, 5, 8, and 11 — sharing a space smaller than most bedrooms.

"When it rained, everything got wet," says Youssef, the father. "The children were always sick. We had no privacy, no safety, no peace."

Through our shelter assistance program, the Hassan family received a prefabricated shelter unit, blankets, sleeping mats, and basic household items. The installation took just two hours.

"The children ran inside and started jumping around," Youssef recalls with a smile. "My daughter said, 'Baba, we have a real house!' She's never had a real house before."

The shelter isn't permanent, but it's safe, dry, and warm. The children each have their own sleeping space. Mariam, the mother, set up a small kitchen area.

"Now I can cook for my family again," she says. "It's the small things that make you feel human."

Our shelter program has provided temporary housing for 156 families, reaching over 900 individuals. Each shelter unit provides safe accommodation for up to 18 months while families work toward permanent housing.

Clean Water for Al-Nuseirat

Our clean water initiative installed 3 water purification systems in Al-Nuseirat, providing safe drinking water to over 1,500 people daily.

Water. It's the most basic human need, yet for the 1,500 residents of Al-Nuseirat's eastern district, clean water was a daily struggle.

"We used to walk two kilometers to fill containers from a truck," says Um Khalil, a grandmother of eight. "The water was often cloudy. The children got stomachaches."

Our engineering team installed three water purification systems, each capable of producing 500 liters of clean water per hour. The systems are solar-powered, ensuring they operate even when electricity is unavailable.

"Now we turn on the tap and clean water comes out," Um Khalil says, demonstrating the system to visitors. "The children drink without fear. I cook without worry."

The impact has been immediate. Reports of waterborne illness in the area dropped by 60% within the first month. Children are healthier, and mothers like Um Khalil no longer spend hours each day fetching water.

"When you give people clean water, you give them life," says our project coordinator. "It's that simple."

Our clean water initiative has installed 12 purification systems across Gaza, providing safe drinking water to over 8,000 people daily.

Yasmin's Art Therapy Journey

9-year-old Yasmin found healing through art therapy sessions organized by our education partners, expressing her experiences through painting.

Yasmin didn't speak for three months after her family's home was destroyed. The 9-year-old, once known for her laughter and constant questions, became silent.

"When she stopped talking, I didn't know what to do," her mother says. "She would just sit and stare at the wall."

Then Yasmin discovered the art therapy sessions run by our partner organization. With paintbrushes, crayons, and paper, she began to express what words couldn't.

Her first painting was dark — a house surrounded by gray. But over weeks, the paintings changed. Colors appeared. Flowers. Sun. A family holding hands.

"The art teacher said Yasmin's paintings tell her story," her mother says. "And through painting, she's finding her way back to us."

Yasmin now speaks again. She paints every day. Her artwork has been displayed in three community exhibitions, and she dreams of becoming an artist.

"Painting makes me feel safe," Yasmin says quietly, carefully mixing colors on her palette. "When I paint, I can go anywhere. I can paint a world where everything is okay."

Our art therapy program has reached 340 children across Gaza, providing a safe space for emotional expression and healing through creative activities.
